Art Nouveau Roses

It's two days until schools close for the July holidays. Three weeks of me time. Can't wait. I need the break desperately and so do the children. Roll on Friday!

I'm playing in the latest sketch challenge at

This is the challenge

I made two of the same layout. On the rear card I adhered the panels flat against each
other but on the front one added some dimension by using foam strips. I wanted to see which I preferred and I have to say, I have no idea! Like them both.
I also used different thread. Think I prefer the variegated one, which is the rear one.

The banner is hand cut.
I really like this layout. Will defiantely be using it again, maybe with leaves next time?

In the past I have used these flowers on some small 6.5cm x 7cm cards.

Rainy days and Umbrellas

That is the challenge at Split Coast Stampers Free 4 All, it's rainy days and umbrellas.

I wish we were having that problem here but driving home today the newspaper headlines were all about the possibility of my province experiencing a drought and the possible water restrictions.
Although we are in a summer rainfall area and so we can't expect rain at the moment, it is still extremely dry so I wouldn't be surprised if we do get some kind of restriction soon.

Oh well, on to my card.

I stitched the umbrellas and then fussy cut them. I also made the little flowers in the top corner.

You can see some cards made with the same pattern here and here.

I will also be entering this in Addicted to CAS challenge

Kids

Another fun challenge over at CASology.

Initially I didn't think I had any project which qualified but in the end had to choose between two.

Here is my entry.
It's something totally different for me.

A while ago I attended a course where I was introduced to this technique for colouring.
I don't have any copics and as I wouldn't ever be able to justify the expense, I just don't colour that often, I was excited to learn this.
You colour with an aqua pencil crayon and then use mineral turps to smudge the pencil.
I still have a long way to go with my colouring technique but I had lots of fun making these.

This was made for my niece.

and the next two for my nephews.

Thanks for looking

Aqua Pencil Crayons

Colour Challenge

I am entering my very first colour challenge, it's over at CAS on Sunday.
Here are the colours and you have to make use of at least three of them.

I matched the thread colours as best as I could and worked with the matches for Basic Grey and Soft Sky. I stitched on white card stock and the page from the old dictionary which I used at the base is my Sahara Sand.

Here is my card.

Doodling

This is the sketch over at Case this sketch

and this is my interpretation of it. (not a great photo, sorry)
I turned the sketch on it's side.
I have noticed that there is a lot of doodling out there at the moment, especially on wedding and baby stationery so decided to try my hand at it.

This is one of my favourite flowers pattern from the book "Easy Embroidery on Paper"
I have used it often.
Here are some small cards, 6.5cm x 7cm, using the same pattern

I did faux stitching around these to complete.

Some other cards using the same pattern.
