Red and Teal

 I love this colour combination.

Here is my card

This card started out quiet differently. Initially I left the topper as a full rectangle which, as I had run out of double sided tape, I adhered to the base with some silicone glue. I used this medium often a long time ago when I was making decoupage cards and it always worked well so I had no reason for concern. This time however the glue left greasy stains on the corners of the topper so I had to lift it and trim them off. I was left with this odd shape so I added some silver paper for definition and used an embossing folder to fill up the other side of the space and ended up with this. Not my best but my lesson was learnt!

CASing Susie Nelson

Of course I had to  CASe  this one of hers as it is stitched.
I keep the idea of the circular motif in white but couldn't match the colour of the card stock exactly.
Congratulations Suzie, great work

I removed the shank from a button and added it to the centre.

Hopeful Change

This weeks Splitcoast Stampers Free 4 All #290 is all about Hopeful Change. It is their way of remembering that sad day which happened in American History this month a couple of years ago.

I have interpreted this as a gradual change in colour from light pink to cerise (as in ombre), symbolising hope.

Here is my card

Pattern: Pintrest
Thread: All brands and colour codes unknown

A Mandala

When I saw the new sketch at CAS(e) this sketch which is this

I was stumped but then I remembered this card which I made a while ago but never got around to posting.

The pattern is obviously made for a square card but as I only make rectangular ones it didn't fit. That is when I came up with the idea for only using half of it.
When stitching half of a design you need to choose carefully as some designs only look good if the stitches are able to extend over the half way mark. This design however was perfect for chopping in half. I coloured the centre flower with pastel pencils which I then smudged with an ear bud.
I added a strip of washi tape to the base card and then adhere the topper using some foam squares to give it some height.

Another kraft card

I am enjoying working with kraft card stock at the moment. I have tried a couple of different colour combinations and white on kraft and todays combination, pink on kraft, are my favourites. I showed you a small pink christmas card last week and today's card was made as a birthday card for my sister. It was inspired by this lovely one made by Jeanne Jochna.

Here is my card.

As you know I always prick two toppers at the same time and so for the second one I decided to use this lovely variegated orange thread. I think it suited the geometric design perfectly. I stuck a flat backed gem onto the centre of a sequin to finish this design.

Supplies:
Pattern: 101 Ideas for Embroidery on Paper by Erica Fortgens
Thread: white and variegated orange (sorry no make or number available)
Flat backed gems in pink (top) and champagne (bottom)
Gold sequin
Corner punch
