Travel

Here is my card for the challenge at CAS on Sunday which is Travel.

Precious

When I hear the word 'precious' straight away I think of the things that are precious to me, my family, my God, my cat, my health but what about precious metals and stones or gems.
I am definitely a jewellery kind of a girl, I always accessorise with a piece or two so today's card covers both categories for me.

This card was made as a wedding card for my cousin who certainly kept us waiting before he tied the knot. He was over fifty when he said "I do' for the first time.
The heart represents how precious a spouse is and the gold on the ribbon is for the precious metal of the same name.

I die cut the heart and then wove the ribbon, once complete I adhered it with tape to the edge of the die shape. The gold edged ribbon was rather difficult to work with as the gold kept on unravelling so for the second card I chose to use satin ribbon instead and to add (dots of liquid) pearls were each strand overlapped.

I will be entering this in the challenge at CASology which is

Cross Country

It was our annual school cross country today. It's compulsory and the boys earn points for their school sports houses. It's the first time that my little guys take part and they start out so enthusiastically but reality kicks in very quickly. They have to run 1.3km and no matter how often we say "Don't start too quickly it's a long race and you need to pace yourselves" they just can't. Some of them where exhausted by the end but I'm pleased to say all of my 'littlies' finish. Way to go Boys!!!

My card today is for the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge which is

I raided my Hubby's fishing box and found the nylon string which I tied around the white panel. The edges where distressed as the card just felt as though it lacked something without.

'W' is for washi tape

The challenge at Butterfly Challenge is running for a month this time instead of two weeks.
The letter chosen is "W"so the challenge is to include a butterfly and some washi tape on your card.
Here is mine. For good measure I used two different washi designs.

The vellum was salvaged from an advert in a decor mag.

A Mandala

When I saw the new sketch at CAS(e) this sketch which is this

I was stumped but then I remembered this card which I made a while ago but never got around to posting.

The pattern is obviously made for a square card but as I only make rectangular ones it didn't fit. That is when I came up with the idea for only using half of it.
When stitching half of a design you need to choose carefully as some designs only look good if the stitches are able to extend over the half way mark. This design however was perfect for chopping in half. I coloured the centre flower with pastel pencils which I then smudged with an ear bud.
I added a strip of washi tape to the base card and then adhere the topper using some foam squares to give it some height.

Wild Garlic

I'm taking part in the TGIF Monthly challenge remix when you have to look at the challenges which they have had over the last month and choose two to combine in your project.
I have chosen the "Brand new" and "Clean and Simple" challenges to combined.

Here is my card

This is a very simple pattern (first part of the challenge) and it's new to me. This is the first time I've stitched it so that covers the second bit too.
