Texture Paint

I wanted to play with my texture paint so stitched something elongated so that I had space to add the
paint. I added a little red ink to the paint to give it the soft pink colour.
This scroll is only one half of the original pattern, to see the design as it was intended please click here.

It fits perfectly with the challenge at CAS(e) this sketch.

Supplies:
Pattern: New Designs, New projects for Embroidery on Paper by Erica Fortgens
Thread: Pale Green brand and colour code unknown
             Kreinik Metallics Blending Filament 095

Creative Talents Texture Paint (Might be called Embossing Paste in your neck of the woods)
Flat backed gems in pink
Penguin red ink

Circular srolls

Last year I mentioned that I set myself a challenge to stitch all the patterns which I have had for ages but somehow never got around to making. Well today's cards are both made using one of these pattern. When I had finished the first one I liked it so much that I did it again in another colour combination. I'm not sure why I waited so long to make use of this pattern. I really like it.

The "string" at the base of the card is actually crochet cotton that I bought really cheaply. I like working with it as it's not as hard as ordinary string.
I have actually stitched this design again since making these cards but I'll save that for another post.

Thread: Pink and yellow (make and numbers unknown)
Crochet cotton in white

Hearts and scrolls

Here is another scroll pattern taken from Erica Fortgens' book 'New Designs, New Projects for Embroidery on Paper'.

The layout is the same as these cards. I particularly like how the combination of the chartreuse green and red look together. I have used this combination many times since thanks to this card.

Supplies:
Pattern: Elegant Oblong Patterns in Erica Fortgens book 'New Designs, New Projects for Embroidery on Paper'.
Punch: Martha Steward Border punch
Flat backed gems in red
Thread: Chartreuse and red
Paper: Scraps origin unknown

Leaves and scrolls

I love the delicate combination of the leaves and scrolls in this pattern, that is why I choose the iridescent thread which I used in my first card. I bought the thread while I was visiting family in New Zealand and unfortunately it is a make which is unavailable in South Africa. Guess I'll have to organize a trip back to N.Z. when I need a replacement spool! Rather an expensive shopping spree but I suppose I could squeeze in a stop over with the relations to justify it ....... only joking!

The card stock that I used for the second one is the back of an old calendar. I loved the colour of it and it was such a great gsm that I couldn't bring myself to throw it out.
