Embossing and ribbon

Freshly made sketches have this sketch for the week

My take

I adhered the ribbon to the card stock prior to pricking the pattern. It as quite a tricky business sticking over the ribbon as the holes where rather hard to see. I hand embossed the leaves.

Supplies:
Thread: Brand and colour unknown
Card stock: 160gsm inwhite
Satin ribbon

Embossing

Week two of my holidays is over, it's the home stretch now unfortunately, although this is sure to be a good week because we are going away to the coast for 3 days. Hubby wants to fish and I'm happy to sit on the beach, soaking up our lovely winter sun reading a book. Heaven.

The challenge at CAS on Sunday is embossing and here is my card or to be perfectly correct, cards. They where so easy and such fun to make that I did three.

and individual ones, not sure why I didn't take a photo of the pink one!

The apricot backing for this one is actually a recycled envelope from a birthday card.

When I made the invites for my last birthday I had a whole lot of ovals left over. I have been trying to think of ways to use them and these cards did the job perfectly.

Teaching

Last week I was asked to run a stitched card course for a group of ladies who have never been introduced to the Prick and Stitch method before. This is the card we made.

I prepared all the elements that the ladies would need to make the card. They just needed to complete the stitched section and then assemble it. I have found that this is the best way to run a course as if the stitching is not completed within the time frame then at least the card can be made up later.

Supplies:
Pattern: Stitching Cards. Free flower bookmark pattern
Thread: Pink, green and yellow
Card Stock: 160gsm in white
Paper: Green and shimmery pink
Cuttlebug
Embossing folder: Cuttlebug Organic Flourish

Hexagons and butterflies

There is a new challenge over at Butterfly Challenge and here is my entry.
The requirements are butterflies, of course, and hexagons.

For this card I reduced the stitching pattern to 50% and stitched it in white. I stitched straight onto the cerise paper and then adhered that to the card stock upper. As the holes for the stitching were now very close together I had to reinforce the back with some sticky tape, which I stitched through.
The embossed lines where drawn using my Crafter's Companion. I did the silver outline around each hexagon by hand, they are not prefectly straight but that was the look I was going for. To finish I added three pink flat backed gems.

Edited to say that I am very excited. This card has won me my first ever badge (see left hand margin). Thanks Mrs A

Supplies:
Complete Crafter's Companion
Thread: DMC in white
Clear glass beads
Flat backed gems in pink
Silver gel pen
Card Stock: white in 200gsm
Paper: Cerise scraps
Sizzix 8 piece hexagon die

Saying Thank You

This time of the year for me involves a lot of thank yous. So today I am going to share some of the cards I will be using this year.

As you know it was my birthday recently so I'll start with the thank yous for that.

I decided to go with a notelet this time instead of a card and as you can see I stuck to the same colour palette and repeated the butterfly theme. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss a border down the side of the card stock. Quick but pretty I think.

This next card is for my colleagues. It's to say thanks for a great year and wish them all the best for the holidays. (the continued butterfly theme is totally unintentional this time!)

I tried to print the sentiment straight onto the card stock but my printer kept on making it crooked so I cut out the 'mistakes' and stitched them on with my sewing machine.

I was inspired by this lovely card

Edited 23/2/2015: I have entered this card in the butterflies and ribbons challenge over at Butterfly Challenge
