Turtle Love

Splitcoast stampers FS544 is honouring Ann Greenspan this week. I loved her turtle card here.
Recently I was asked to make a couple of cards for an engagement and one of them also had turtles on it so I thought it would be a perfect way to honour Ann if I shared it here.
It is also my 16th wedding anniversary today so it's kind of fitting in that way too.

Swinging heart

Recently I made this card and it fits the criteria, colourwise, perfectly.

I cut a circle in the kraft topper. Then I used a double die to cut the white circular rim which I secured to the kraft. The crochet cotton was secured to the back to the craft and the entire topper was given some dimension with the use of double sided foam squares.
The sentiment is hand written

Blue on white anniversary Card

I have something a bit different for you today. It's an anniversary card with not a stitch of hand embroidery to be seen!

The sentiment is computer generated and I machine stitched around it ( sorry just couldn't break totally with my addiction to thread!). I hand cut the heart. To keep the cord exactly aligned with the point of the heart I cut a tiny "v" for it to sit in.

I will be entering it over at Sweet Sunday Sketch were the sketch is

Card Stock: 160gsm in white

Anniversary wishessssssssssss.........

This week has seemed like the longest ever. Last week we had a 3 day week as both Monday and Friday where public holidays. That was really great but unfortunately it makes the next normal work week seem ever so long!!!! However it's weekend now and time for some me time.

The latest challenge at Splitcoast Stampers. Free for all is "Getting Hitched." This is perfect as it is my sister's wedding anniversary this month. After 18 years of marriage I reckon a bit of anniversary humour wouldn't go amiss.

Neither of them is particularly fond of snakes and actually where they live there are no snakes, but she is a girl from Africa, originally, and they are both nature lovers so I'm sure that they will appreciate the humour.

Supplies:
Pattern: Easy Embroidery on paper by Joke de Vette
Thread: No brands or codes available
Gold sequins
Scrap of read paper.
White card stock 160gsm
Envelope: Free download from Creative Park

Painting Furniture

I am in the middle of painting some of the wooden furniture from our bedroom. There is nothing structurally wrong with it I just feel like I need a change and it's cheaper (not by much I have since discovered!!!) to paint than to replace so I have taken the plunge and started. I am doing a chest of drawers and if we like the result then I will do a few others.
At the moment I am waiting for the primer to dry so thought I'd sneak in a blog update.

Today's card is for a 28th wedding anniversary

I CASed this card by Debby Hughes.
First I stamped the kraft card stock in chestnut ink with the Amazing Grace stamp from Micia Crafts.
Then I cut out the circles. I attached the largest to the cream card stock and then machine stitched the grey line twice. Next I adhered the large checked circle and then the smaller craft one. My heart was hand cut and the buttons where two odds I had in my stash. I there secured the topper to a piece of black paper and then onto the folded A5 card which is also cream.
The envelope is store bought and given a bit of oomph by added detail on the flap.

Supplies:
Sizzies 8 circle dies
Stamp: Amazing Grace by Micia Crafts
Grey thread for machine stitching.
Black checked paper: Paper Pizazz Dots checks plaids and stripes booklet
Red Paper: scrap booking. Make unknown
Ink: Colorbox in chestnut

Happy Anniversary

For me weekends are about not having to set the alarm. I love being able to wake up when my body clock says I have had enough sleep. It's a real luxury.

If I am not able to indulge myself due to school sport or some other early morning commitment, I like nothing better than a little snooze in the afternoon. I'm off to take one as soon as I have finished this post.

Today's card is for a 4th wedding anniversary.

For this card I cut 3 identical hearts out of striped paper. These where done by hand. I secured two back to back for the stand up heart and stuck the third one onto the card stock over the half doily. I then did a single row of machine stitching down the centre of the double sided heart to secure it exactly on top of the flat one. This allowed it to be bent so that it is able to stand away from the card stock. Tape measure washi tape finished the layout.

I made the envelope and lined it with a page of an old dictionary.

Supplies:
180gsm kraft card stock
Striped paper downlaoded from Google images.
Sylko small white doily
washi tape in tape maesure
C6 Envelope: red paper, complete Crafter's Companion envelope side
Liner: Page from an old dictionary

Two for the price of one.

It is my youngest sister's birthday in a day or two and this is the card I have made for her.

I watched this tutorial on crochet hearts and knew that I had to give it a go. For this card I made the heart using baker's twine but while I was in the mood I also tried making some with wool. I'll share those in another post.

The envelope is a free downlaod from Cannon Creative Park green heart envelope and the cat is from Form-A-Lines. Pattern below.

I liked this card so much that I decided to make it a second time. This one to celebrate an annivesary for my other sister. It's a good thing that they live in two different countries, I can duplicate without giving anything away.
As you no doubt have gathered we are all cat lovers.

I made the enveope using my Complete Crafter's Companion. The liner is from Crafty Ferret

Supplies:
Form-A-Lines Pattern Cat and clockwork mouse
Washi Tape: green chevron and red and white striped.
Paper: Orange Gingham Activity Village
           Green stripe: Google Images
Baker's Twine: red and green
