Ivy leaves

CASe this sketch have a new sketch

Here is my take on it

A while ago when I was a guest designer ( here and here ) I had to make a couple of Autumn inspired cards, this was one of them but as I made far too many before I made up my mind on which to send for inspiration, I didn't use it in the end. So I'll enter it into this challenge instead.

Guest designer #2

I'm the Guest Designer over at Time out Challenges and here is my second card for their challenge

Autumn... The year's last, lovliest smile

This was actually not what I was originally planning on making. I had in my head something along these lines

Source: I'm in Haven blog

however I didn't measure my panel for stitching very carefully (that's what happens when you save your scraps to be used later!) and it was too short. After a quick panic I remembered these dies which I have never used before and they saved the day.
Some crochet cotton, glitter on the leaves and faux stitching complete the card.

Guest Designer

Today is a very exciting day for me as I have been invited to be the Guest Designer over at Ttime out challenges

The challenge is a word inspiration and the idea is that you focus on a word from this phase and use that as the inspiration for your card.

The phase is

 'Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile'
I have focussed on the word 'Autumn' and here is my card

Why don't you hope over to their blog and see the other great challenge cards on display.
I hope that you will join in the fun.

Autumn Leaves

I've been back at school for two weeks now and let me tell you that I feel as though I haven't been away. We had our first Hockey session yesterday and next week we start practising for our Athletics meeting. Busy, busy, busy.

I made this card a while ago but never posted it. I'm sure it's still eligible for a challenge

and it fits perfectly with this sketch one at Freshly made sketches

The banner and diamond are both hand cut. Two gold peel offs placed as mirror images of themselves compete the banner

White with a hint of colour

Recently I discovered a new challenge which I am going to enter. It is over at CAS on Sunday and the challenge is Challenge 57: white with a hint of another colour.

I choose to make some cards with leaves on them as we are slowly, and the operative word here is very 'slowly', moving towards winter. Where I live here so close to the coast we don't experience distinct season changes, no leaves turning beautiful colours and besides the humidity being absent and less rain the weather is pretty much unchanged from summer at the moment. I envy people who experience the lovely colours of the trees in autumn.

I distress the edges of both toppers and used bakers twine on the first and washi tape on the second to finish off.

Supplies:
Pattern:Form a lines autumn falling leaves
Thread: Blue and green . Both manufactories and codes unknown
Ink: Colorbox in chestnut brown
Washi Tape: green and white zigzag
Blue and white baker's twine

A leaf wreath

Well the concert is finished and it all went extremely well and now I'm on to the next job which is report writing. School closes for the year in just over three weeks. I have managed to do about half of them so far. No prizes for guessing how I spent my weekend?!!!

Today's card is probably one of my favourite from this year. I have had the pattern for a while now but this is the first time I have actually stitched it. At the beginning of the year I set myself a target to make up as many designs as I could which I haven't stitched before. When complete, some of them remind me immediately of why I haven't stitched them before but this one was different.
I like the delicate nature of the leaves and the colour combination works well for me.

Supplies:
Thread: Olive green
Green flat backed gems
8 green glass beads
Gold paper
Card stock: 160gsm in green and scarp of 200gsm in oatmeal.

Leaves and scrolls

I love the delicate combination of the leaves and scrolls in this pattern, that is why I choose the iridescent thread which I used in my first card. I bought the thread while I was visiting family in New Zealand and unfortunately it is a make which is unavailable in South Africa. Guess I'll have to organize a trip back to N.Z. when I need a replacement spool! Rather an expensive shopping spree but I suppose I could squeeze in a stop over with the relations to justify it ....... only joking!

The card stock that I used for the second one is the back of an old calendar. I loved the colour of it and it was such a great gsm that I couldn't bring myself to throw it out.
