I managed to get some sewing done this weekend, thank goodness. This week is the start of "silly season" for me with 2 dinners and a lunch planned. I also have prize giving at school so something new to wear certainly won't go amiss.

Another Christmas card and it fits the new sketch at Freshly made sketches perfectly

 

 I made a couple in the blue and silver combo

 

 

but my one sister doesn't like blue so I made this combo for her instead.

Lantern

A couple of people have asked me about this technique of Prick and stitch that I do. Yes all of my cards are hand stitched. Most of the patterns I use are not my own but bought. The first step is to prick the tiny holes onto the card stock. I tend to do that during the holidays as that is when I have time to be creative. I make careful notes on the back of each topper in pencil to remind myself of what I am planning on doing for that particular card. Then I save all my toppers with their pattern and instructions in a A4 plastic folder next to the chair that I sit in when I watch TV. If I am not too tired in the evenings, or don't have some school work to do, I will take out a card to stitch. Sometimes I only do a little bit but other times I might actually get a topper competed. I can't tell you exactly how long it takes as it depends if the pattern is an old favourite (it will go quickly then) or a new one (much slower) but on average I'd say about two hours. It is a time consuming hobby but I absolutely love it and have been known to stay up way pass my bed time just so that I can see how a card "turns out". So there you have it. I flipped the sketch upside down. It was only once I had finished making my cards that I noticed that I haven't followed the sketch very carefully. I should have left a little gap before I added the patterned paper, oh well maybe next time.

This card was made for a colleague who has just adopted a 3 month old baby girl.

Well it's Sunday morning and has been an overcast weekend, perfect for snuggling up with a cup of coffee and a good book. I've got the good book and I'm drinking the coffee but unfortunately the snuggling will have to wait a couple of hours as reports are my priority today. Managed to get through six yesterday and the aim is to complete another six today so I guess I should stop playing here and get on with them!

Christmas Time out

Well this is the week of our school concert. On Monday we had our official dress rehearsal for the rest of the school to watch and then toady is our matinee show. Thursday is the big night and I can't wait for it all to be over. Concerts take up so much time and school work certainly takes a back seat. Will be very pleased when we are back to normal.

My first Tutorial

Last year I used this little guy as part of my  Christmas gifts.
